From Europe to Canada, Autonex unites trusted automotive marketplace brands in one leading international group.

Through its marketplaces, including AutoScout24 and AutoTrader.ca, Autonex and its subsidiaries (“the Group”) connect millions of buyers with private sellers and professional dealers each month. Beyond its marketplaces, the Group supports automotive retailers with solutions spanning vehicle sourcing, software, fintech, marketing and cross-border trade.

Built on trusted proprietary marketplace data and a single, shared platform that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, Autonex can scale products, commercial capabilities and innovation across markets while preserving strong local expertise.

Together, these strengths enable Autonex to reshape how vehicles are bought, sourced, leased and sold across Europe and Canada.

Business Model

A broad, diversified business model

Autonex operates a subscription-based, asset-light marketplace model with revenue from complementary services. This combination supports recurring revenues, diversified monetization and scalable growth.

Subscription-based

Dealer subscriptions make up around 70% of revenue, providing the core of the model and a stable recurring revenue base across all markets.

Complementary revenues

Transactional, cost-per-lead and media & other value-added revenues broaden the model and create additional monetization opportunities.

Growth Strategy

Built for scalable growth

Autonex’s growth is driven by three core pillars. Together, they expand customer reach, deepen dealer relationships and create a strong foundation for long-term value creation.

Marketplace Strength

→

Strong marketplace brands give Autonex scale, visibility and recurring dealer demand across its markets. They provide the reach and commercial foundation on which the Group continues to grow.

One Shared Platform

→

At the heart of Autonex is a single platform shared across all markets. Built on trusted proprietary marketplace data from millions of consumer interactions, dealer relationships and vehicle listings, it allows the Group to scale products, commercial capabilities and innovation quickly across countries while preserving strong local market expertise.

Autonex Intelligence

One example of how the shared platform creates value is Autonex Intelligence, which brings together the Group’s AI capabilities with trusted proprietary marketplace data to help dealers operate more efficiently and make better decisions, while making it faster, simpler and more intuitive for consumers to find the right vehicle. These capabilities are brought to market through AutoScout24 Intelligence in Europe and AutoTrader Intelligence in Canada. By improving product performance, broadening the Group’s offering and scaling capabilities across markets, Autonex can create additional commercial and growth opportunities.

Dealer Solutions

→

Autonex’s role goes beyond listings alone: From cross-border digital wholesale to software, marketing and fintech, these services deepen dealer relationships and broaden the Group’s relevance across day-to-day automotive trade.

Milestones

Nearly 3 decades of consistent evolution

‍
1998

Founded in Munich as MasterCar.de

The journey began in 1998, when the business started in Munich as an online vehicle marketplace. Later that year, it joined the Scout24 group, became AutoScout24, and began expanding into other European markets.

2002 – 2015

From early growth to a scaled European platform

Over the following years, the business continued expanding across Europe. As consumer behaviour shifted towards mobile, the company adapted early, including with one of the sector’s first mobile applications. By the mid-2010s, it had also entered a new phase of institutional maturity through Hellman & Friedman’s investment and Scout24’s stock exchange listing.

2020 – 2022

New ownership and a broader model

Following its acquisition by Hellman & Friedman as a standalone business in 2020, AutoScout24 entered a new phase, enabling it to fully focus on the automotive market. With the acquisitions of LeasingMarkt.de in 2020 and AutoProff in 2022, the Group expanded beyond traditional marketplaces into leasing and digital B2B wholesale, broadening its role across the automotive transaction journey.

2024

Expanding beyond Europe

The acquisition of Canadian AutoTrader marked the Group’s first expansion beyond Europe, adding both leading Canadian automotive marketplace brands as well as complementary dealer software & fintech capabilities, and so diversifying its offering.

2026

Introducing Autonex as a unified identity

Autonex is introduced as the leading international automotive marketplace group across Europe and Canada, bringing together its various vehicle marketplaces and dealer services under one identity and on one shared platform. This is the logical next step in a journey shaped by nearly three decades of sustainable growth, international expansion and increasing integration.

Family of Brands

Autonex brings together a portfolio of leading automotive marketplaces and dealer solutions across Europe and Canada.

AutoScout24

AutoScout24 is a well-established consumer marketplace brand and the largest pan-European online car market. With more than two million listings, over 30 million monthly users and more than 40,000 dealer partners, it gives Autonex substantial consumer reach and strong relevance across Europe’s automotive market.

AutoTrader.ca | AutoHebdo.net

AutoTrader.ca and AutoHebdo.net are the Group’s flagship marketplaces in Canada and a major source of market relevance in North America. As Canada’s largest and most trusted automotive marketplace, AutoTrader gives Autonex clear national scale in one of the world’s most established automotive markets. Beyond its marketplaces, the Group supports Canadian dealers with a broad range of software, marketing and fintech solutions, including credit and financing services through Dealertrack Canada.

LeasingMarkt.de

LeasingMarkt.de adds a distinct and increasingly relevant category to the Group: as Germany’s largest vehicle leasing marketplace, with more than two million monthly users, it expands Autonex's consumer offering into leasing and strengthens the Group’s role across another important part of the automotive transaction journey.

AutoProff

AutoProff represents the Group’s B2B wholesale capability. As a pan-European digital used-car trading platform for businesses, it enables cross-border sourcing and sales at scale, with more than 150,000 B2B vehicles traded annually and access to over 10,000 professional buyers.

Built on one shared platform, the Group combines scale, proprietary data and broad automotive capabilities to create value for dealers and consumers across the automotive journey.

What changes for dealers and consumers?

Little will change in day-to-day experience: dealers and consumers will continue to engage with the same familiar brands, which are now going to be backed by a strong Group behind them.

Will the existing brands change?

The established brands, such as AutoScout24, AutoTrader.ca and others, will remain unchanged and continue to be the trusted touchpoints in their respective markets. Autonex is the corporate identity that brings the Group together behind them.

What markets does Autonex operate in?

Autonex has a local presence across nine core markets in Canada and Europe, including Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.

What sets Autonex apart?

Unlike a collection of independent marketplaces, this allows products, capabilities and innovation to scale quickly across markets while preserving local expertise and helping dealers and consumers make better automotive decisions.

How does Autonex leverage AI?

Autonex brings together its Group-wide AI capabilities under Autonex Intelligence. Built on the Group’s shared platform and trusted proprietary marketplace data, these capabilities improve search, recommendations, demand matching, decision support and operational efficiency. They are brought to market through AutoScout24 Intelligence in Europe and AutoTrader Intelligence in Canada.
